Abstract
The preparation by melt intercalation followed by curing and compression moulding of nanocomposites of chloroprene rubber with various proportions of sodium montmorillonite clay nanoparticles and an ammonium salt as organic modifier, and their characterisation by SAXS, TEM, TGA, DMA, and tensile testing, is described. The effects of filler and modifier contents on mechanical and thermal properties of the nanocomposites were investigated and the results are discussed in terms of filler dispersion and exfoliation. 10 refs.
