Abstract
The permeation of chlorinated hydrocarbon vapours through uncrosslinked and crosslinked EVA membranes was investigated. Dicumyl peroxide and benzoyl peroxide were used as crosslinking agents. The effects of crystallinity, crosslinker loading, type of crosslinking agent and penetrant size on permeation were examined and the influence of free volume on gas barrier properties evaluated using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. Crosslink density was calculated using the equilibrium sorption method and its influence on permeation also assessed. 22 refs.
