Abstract
In this paper the plate twist test is investigated numerically and experimentally in order to ascertain its applicability to the in-plane shear modulus measurement of advanced woven textile reinforced composite materials. Based on the application of the theory of thin anisotropic plates, a correction factor to compensate for a inboard shift of both loading and supporting points was derived. Corrected shear moduli data compares well with those where the factor by Simms et al is applied. 16 refs.
