Abstract
The punching density, penetration depth, shape of needle and speed of needling are amongst some of the factors affecting the mechanical properties of needle-punched 3-D preforms. This work reports a study of the mechanical properties of needle-punched non-woven carbon/phenolic composites with different punching densities, and the effect of changes in fibre orientation due to needle punching on the thermal properties of non-woven carbon/phenolic composites.
