Abstract
The volumetric expansion of bisphenol-A and aniline-based benzoxazine is studied by comparing the room temperature density of the cured benzoxazine under different polymerisation conditions with the amorphous benzoxazine monomer. The Tg of aniline-based benzoxazine at various degrees of polymerisation is investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, and the degrees of conversion at different polymerisation temperatures were compared with the respective Tg temperatures. A fluorinated polybenzoxazine was synthesised from the ring opening polymerisation of hexafluoroisopropylidene-containing benzoxazine monomer. Properties of the fluorine-containing polymer were compared to those of non-fluorinated polybenzoxazine. The effect of fluorine incorporation on Tg temperature and thermal stability are examined. 29 refs.
