Abstract
The synthesis of graft copolymers of chlorinated polypropylene (CPP) with polyurethane (PU) via the inter-chain polymer reactions between maleated CPP and PU prepolymers derived from poly(oxypropylene)diols and 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, with or without diol or diamine extenders and containing free isocyanate groups, under various reaction conditions in the presence of a tertiary amine catalyst is described. The products were characterised by titration (free isocyanate content), FTIR (molecular structure), DSC (glass transition temperature), gloss and adhesive properties of films, and the effects of PU chain extenders on properties are discussed. 20 refs.
