Abstract
The synthesis of composites of phenol-formaldehyde resin reinforced with various proportions of the natural fibre derived from Hibiscus Sabdariffa, and their characterisation by tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, wear testing, stress-strain properties, morphology (SEM) and thermal analysis (TGA/DTA), is described. The effects of fibre content and resin composition on mechanical properties of the composites were investigated and the results are discussed. 17 refs.
