Abstract
The long-term durability of a GRP rebar exposed to an alkaline environment mimicking concrete pore water (a pH 12.6 solution of 0.16% calcium hydroxide, 1% sodium hydroxide and 1.4% potassium hydroxide) for 300 days at different temperatures was investigated and the mechanical degradation of the rebar measured by tensile testing. A model for predicting the durability of the rebar in the domestic environment of Korea was derived using the time shift factor concept from the Dejke model and predictions of the Dejke model and new model compared with the experimental findings. 11 refs.
