Abstract
Cytec has developed a new class of light stabilisers which are claimed to provide an extraordinary efficiency in polyolefin systems beyond what is afforded by current state-of-the-art hindered amine light stabiliser (HALS) technology. At equivalent or reduced stabiliser loading, the systems are demonstrated to extend the UV stability of thick section PE and PP. In addition, aesthetic properties such as colour and gloss are improved. The superior performance properties of the new high efficiency light stabilisers, UV-4611 and UV-6435 are shown in studies involving LLDPE, HDPE, and PP. 15 refs.
