Abstract
Multiwalled carbon nanotube/PU nanocomposites were prepared by a combination of in-situ polymerisation and solvent casting and the morphologies of the nanotubes and nanocomposites and dispersion of nanotubes in the PU matrix investigated by TEM and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The thermomechanical properties, heat stability and tensile properties of the nanocomposites were also investigated and compared with those of neat polyurethane. Nanocomposites with significantly enhanced Young’s modulus, stress at break and elongation at break and a strong interfacial adhesion between the nanotubes and matrix were obtained. 32 refs.
