Abstract
Blends of HDPE and chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) are tested across the whole concentration range to determine improvements in properties of thus modified polyethylene. Conventional mechanical tests and dynamic mechanical tests were carried out. The blends were found to be multiphase systems of excellent technological compatibility. Between 10-15% by weight CPE was found to increase the modulus of PE. The results of analysis by X-ray scattering showed that the blends contained structural units not present either in the polyethylene or in the CPE. In addition, the blends are melt processable. 7 refs.
