Abstract
Low density PE/nanocomposites were prepared using various modified clays, including silane grafted, ammonium intercalated and silane grafted and ammonium intercalated clays, and the effect of clay modification on the photooxidation of the nanocomposites exposed to UV light investigated by means of IR spectroscopy. The effect of photooxidation behaviour on the crystallisation and morphology of the nanocomposites was also investigated by DSC and scanning electron microscopy and the influence of dispersion and orientation structure on the clays in the polymer matrix assessed. 39 refs.
