Abstract
Evidence is presented that the model reaction of the initiated oxidation of cumene can be used for the simultaneous determination of phenolic and hindered amine functionalities of stabilisers, with particular reference to Chimassorb 119 and 944 grades. The condition of the stabiliser is useful for assessing the consumption of stabilisers by different processes during the production, storage, weathering and service life, and is therefor important in the compounding of durable products for recycling and in critical applications. The established dependence offers a way of determining the effective concentration of the active groups of HAS and SHPh stabilisers in polyolefin formulations by means of one model reaction. 30 refs.
