Abstract
The use is described of a family of ethylene copolymers for use as polymeric modifiers in engineering plastics and with the dual function of carrier resins for masterbatches. The copolymers are characterised through a very heterogeneous molecular architecture and thus, an enhanced compatibility with other polymers and fillers, making them suitable for use as either compatibilisers or impact modifiers, and also, due to their high filler acceptance, as carrier resins. The copolymers, known as Elvaloy AC, can be produced with both a high comonomer content and a low melt flow index. They are copolymers of ethylene and acrylate esters, which are produced by a high pressure free radical polymerisation process using a tubular reactor. 4 refs.
