Abstract
Results from the development of a novel coupling agent technology soon to be commercialised, are described. Potential coupling agents were studied including carboxylic acid or cyclic anhydride groups as the coupling agent-to-filler bonding group. On the grounds of cost effectiveness and safety and ease of handling, a particular low molecular weight oligomeric carboxylic acid, containing high reactivity double bond per molecule, was selected for further study. This materials is referred to as Solplus C800. Particular reference is given to the performance of the technology in ATH filed EVA systems, and to its benefits over existing coupling agent technologies. 5 refs.
