Abstract
Non-linear fatigue fracture in composite laminates was investigated experimentally using polyester/glass fibre laminates, and by numerical analysis using finite element analytical methods. Experiments were carried out using sinusoidal tensile loads on samples in which an initial crack was introduced. Good agreement was obtained between experimental and simulated results, and it was shown that fatigue damage was concentrated around the crack tip. Relationships between the fatigue crack growth and J-integral range were discussed. 25 refs.
