Abstract
A comprehensive review is presented of neoalkoxy titanate and neoalkoxy zirconate coupling agent additives in thermoplastics. Titanates are compared to silanes, and titanate retractability with substrates such as calcium carbonate, carbon black and organic substrates is demonstrated. The superiority of titanates over silanes on silane retractable substrates is shown with respect to filler coupling and polymer catalysis mechanisms. Improvements in properties and cycle times are illustrated by means of application examples. References from literature searches are further discussed. 54 refs.
