Abstract
The effects of processing conditions and tapering of the injection chamber on wet-out of dry glass fibre roving reinforcements by the liquid polyester resin in the tapered injection pultrusion process were studied by modelling using a three-dimensional finite volume technique with fibre pull speed, fibre volume fraction and resin velocity as process parameters. The impact of tapering of the injection chamber on the minimum injection pressure necessary to achieve complete fibre matrix wet-out and the resin pressure at the injection chamber exit are discussed in terms of chamber design. 18 refs.
