Abstract
Details are given of a new liquid sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant, which besides imparting excellent thermal stability to the grafted rubber phase of emulsion ABS, can be dosed with a low margin of error, and easily emulsified. Such an emulsion, is claimed to have very good storage stability, and mixes well with the aqueous ABS latex. To reduce the initial colour of ABS after processing, new synergistic process stabilisers, based on lactone chemistry, have been developed. These new stabilisation concepts for ABS graft phase and ABS graft compounds, are shown to significantly improve the technical performance of ABS compounds. 1 ref.
