**Abstract**
 The structural responses of impact-absorbing systems built from isotactic polypropylene and intended to improve the safety of motor cyclists in crashes with guardrails were examined experimentally by using a free-fall tower. The experimental results were used to validate calculations previously made by the finite-element method (FEM). The comparison validated the FEM method, as the difference between the empirical and numerical results was never more than 9.84%. 7 refs.
