**Abstract**
The stabilisation of syndiotactic polystyrene, obtained in the presence of the original cyclopentadienyl (p-chlorophenoxy) dichlorotitanium (IV)/methylaluminoxane catalytic system, was investigated. Use of this catalytic system, syndiotactic polystyrene melted in the temperature region of 250-260 degrees C, giving a wider temperature window for processing. Five types of commercial antioxidant and stabilisers were used, together with two specially synthesised stabilisers. These were used in amounts from 0.05 to 1.0 wt.%, and the stability of unstabilised and stabilised syndiotactic polystyrene in a moulding process was evaluated by measuring the melt flow rate in a plastometer, and after four extrusion passes. A second method for the evaluation of the stability of sPS was the measurement of the Index of Thermal Stability. Results of the trials are given. 14 refs.
