**Abstract**
 Tests were carried out on highly filled PP composites with varying filler contents up to 70 wt.%. The fillers used were calcium carbonate, talc and barium sulphate. These underwent surface modification with titanate or silicone. Such surface modification of the fillers facilitated extrusion, and reduced brittleness, while providing hard composites with high density. Tensile properties were measured and related to the composition, filler type and surface treatment. 10 refs.
