**Abstract**
 The preparation by latex compounding of nanocomposites of blends of various proportions of natural rubber latex and poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) with sodium montmorillonite, and their characterisation after curing by XRD, SEM, TEM and tensile strength, is described. The effects of blend composition and addition of filler on tensile properties are discussed in terms of compatibility and filler dispersion. 18 refs.
