**Abstract**
Oil-in-water emulsion polymerisation with two types of isocyamate monomers in the oil phase and hexamethylene diamine in the water phase, with tetradecane as phase change material (PCM), was used to prepare PCM-loaded polyurea microcapsules some several hundred micrometers in diameter. Isocyanate monomers included toluene diisocyanate (TDI) and phenyl isocyanate, and to achieve the microcapsules a suitably adjusted agitation rate proved necessary. Microcapsule morphology was affected by the ratio of the two isocyanates, with higher ratio of the TDI proving more beneficial. Microcapsules were characterised using scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. 17 refs.
