**Abstract**
 The fabrication of polymer ternary nanocomposite membranes by the solution casting technique using a blend of polycarbonate as matrix phase with various proportions of polyamide-6 as dispersed phase and a commercial nanoclay as filler, and their characterisation by SEM (cross-sectional morphology), AFM (surface roughness) and XRD (dispersion), is described. The permeability of the membranes was calculated using theoretical models, and the effects of blend composition on permeability are discussed in terms of surface roughness, free volume and porosity. 40 refs.
