**Abstract**
The development of a technique to control the on-line quality of glass/phenolic prepreg cloth using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is reported. This was achieved by the establishment of calibration models for resin content, volatile content and degree of pre-cure using partial least squares regression and testing of several spectral pretreatments to obtain optimum models. Application of the technique to investigate the relationship between resin content, volatile content and degree of pre-cure and various processing parameters is demonstrated and quality control realised by adjusting the appropriate processing parameters. 23 refs.
