**Abstract**
 A study is reported of the thermorheological behaviour of thermoplastic elastomer blends based on both ground rubber from scrap tyres, (GRT) and maleic anhydride grafted GRT, (m-GRT) to determine the influence of the maleation on the GRT in blends with EPDM and ethylene-co-acrylic acid with respect to the rheological characteristics of the blend. Higher storage and loss shear moduli and shear viscosity was noted for the m-GRT based TPE compared to the GRT based TPE composition. An interaction between m-GRT and A-HDPE was evident from the loss tangent spectra of the blends as well as from the die swell of the melt extrudates. The m-GRT based TPE produced smoother extrudates at low shear rates than the blend containing non-maleated GRT. However, at higher shear rates, both compositions showed melt fracture. 16 refs.
